M5: AP.Bren slips past SYS to reach upper bracket semis

AP.Bren sustained their lethal form and took down Cambodia’s See You Soon, 3-1, to reach the upper bracket semi-finals of the M5 World Championship Knockout Stage on Sunday at the EVM Convention Center in Quezon City.

The Hornets dominated See You Soon throughout the series, save for Game 2 where the Cambodian representatives managed to erase an early game deficit to mount a successful comeback.

“We just maximized the mobility potential of my players mechanically and we spread them out the map. So it was easy to plan macro-wise and then we just ran them over in the power spike,” explained AP.Bren coach Vrendon “Vren” Pesebre on their approach against SYS.

After SYS equalized the series 1-1, AP.Bren debuted the Odette pick in the M5 stage which led to a comfortable 11-minute victory.

Pheww finished with a spotless 5-0-3 KDA while KyleTzy took the MVP with a similar 5-0-3 KDA in leading AP.Bren’s 13-4 demolition of SYS on the scoreboard.

In Game 3, Super Marco went on a rampage, finishing with an 11-1-3 KDA to lead AP.Bren’s close-out win.

AP.Bren will next face the winner of the Geek Fam ID – Burmese Ghouls match-up to dispute the slot to the upper bracket finals.
