PLDT finishes PVL group stage unbeated after sweep of Galeries

CEBU CITY – PLDT swept Pool A with a dominant straight-sets victory over Galeries Tower, 25-20, 25-14, 25-17, to conclude its group stage campaign on a high note in the 2025 PVL On Tour, Sunday at the USJ-R Coliseum here.

Coming off a straight-set win over Nxled the previous day, the High Speed Hitters maintained their momentum, wrapping up a near-flawless group stage run with a perfect 5-0 record, having dropped only one set throughout the preliminaries to clinch the top seed.

“Challenge ‘tong Galeries kasi may pagod din yung kahapon ta’s yung Nxled, paangat na rin sila. ‘Di pa lumalabas gaano sa standings pero nandun sila. Na-overcome namin yung challenge kanina,” said PLDT head coach Rald Ricafort.

The trio of Kianna Dy, Mika Reyes, and Jovie Prado powered PLDT in the one-hour and 24-minute encounter, with veteran setter Kim Fajardo orchestrating a well-balanced offense.

She kept the Galeries defense guessing and allowed the High Speed Hitters to control the tempo from start to finish.

Dy led the scoring with 12 points on 23 attempts, while Prado and Reyes each contributed 10 points.

Majoy Baron chipped in with seven points, while Kiesha Bedonia added six markers along with six excellent digs to round out the attack.

Fajardo tallied 17 excellent sets and scored four points of her own. Team captain Kath Arado anchored the backline with 11 excellent digs and seven excellent receptions.

Meanwhile, the Highrisers ended their group stage campaign winless at 0-5, finishing at the bottom of Pool A.

Despite keeping pace with PLDT early in each set, Galeries once again struggled with unforced errors, committing 23 that proved costly in the long run.
