CEBU CITY – Farm Fresh boosted its chances of clinching an outright quarterfinals berth after taking down Galeries Tower in straight sets, 27-25, 25-17, 25-18, in the 2025 PVL On Tour on Saturday at the USJ-R Coliseum here.
Save for a tightly-contested opening set that went into extension, it was all the Foxies from there, as the Highrisers struggled to gain momentum amid a slew of unforced errors.
Farm Fresh, now riding a three-game winning streak after dropping their tournament opener, forged a tie with Nxled for second place at 3-1.
They head into a crucial clash against the Chameleons tomorrow at 6:30 PM, with the winner securing the last quarterfinals spot in Pool A.
“It’s a process. It takes a long time. We need to become way better than we are. We need to learn a lot of new things. People have to make major changes because how they’ve been playing is nowhere close to good enough to compete at a high level in the league,” said Foxies head coach Alessandro Lodi.
“This is the only thing we will focus on. If we do that, if we do things how we want to do them and lose, it’s fine. It’s part of the competition. If we don’t do it and win, there’s no big joy because it’s really a long-term process. It takes some time. Wins and losses come and go,” he added.
Trisha Tubu posted a team-high 14 points, 13 of which came from attacks, while Jolina Dela Cruz added 11 markers for Farm Fresh.
Cebuana middle blocker Lorene Toring had nine markers in her homecoming, while Rizza Cruz and Rachel Daquis managed seven points apiece in the victory.
Alohi Robins-Hardy tossed 14 excellent sets to go along with four markers, while rookie Ann Monares tallied 10 excellent digs.
The Foxies edged the Highrisers in attacks, 38-34, dominated the net with an 8-4 blocking advantage. They also capitalized on their opponent’s miscues by scoring 22 points off unforced errors while yielding just 14 of their own.
On the other hand, the Highrisers remained winless after four games and remained at the bottom of the group.
France Ronquillo put up 14 markers for Galeries, all from attacks, while second overall pick Jean Asis had 11 points.
