VICTORIAS, Negros Occidental — Maicah Larroza received a special boost ahead of the 2026 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference.
Playing in her home province, the 25-year-old Farm Fresh libero had her extended family in the stands at a jam-packed Victorias City Coliseum here on Saturday for the 2026 PVL On Tour Showdown finale.
Inspired by the support of her family and the warm reception from the Negrenses, Larroza and the Foxies pulled out all the stops to beat the Capital1 Solar Spikers in the tour’s first and only five-set match, 20–25, 25–19, 22–25, 25–12, 15–10.
For Larroza, having her family in the crowd motivated her to deliver and show them that all the hard work she has been putting in in Manila is paying off.
“Sobrang excited ko nga maglaro kasi nandiyan yung buong family ko. Parang ano na rin ito — maipakita ko rin kung ano yung pinaghihirapan ko sa Manila. Grateful ako na nakapaglaro dito sa Victorias,” said Larroza, who hails from Bacolod, about an hour’s drive from the venue.
Larroza entered the league as the fourth overall pick in the 2024 PVL Draft. An outside spiker for De La Salle University, she was eventually converted to libero by Farm Fresh and has since made great strides in her new role.
The homecoming victory also served as a timely boost for Larroza, with the week-long Invitational Conference set to begin on August 31 and run until September 8.
Farm Fresh will face defending champion PLDT, Jaja Santiago-powered Creamline, Nxled, and guest teams Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam and EST Cola of Thailand.
“Siyempre thankful ako sa opportunity na yung last game namin dito sa PVL On Tour dito ginanap. Magiging ready lang kami sa Invitational Conference kasi mas challenging siya since may international teams din,” she shared.
Head coach Koji Tsuzurabara also made sure to give Larroza her flowers after her strong performance in her home province.
“This is Maicah’s home, and she delivered a good performance,” said the Japanese coach.
