TUBOD, Lanao del Norte — Jonna Perdido has her sights set on learning from fellow left-handed hitter Trisha Tubu as she begins her new journey with Farm Fresh in the Premier Volleyball League.
Although the two play different positions, with Tubu a five-time PVL Best Opposite Spiker, Perdido believes she can still learn plenty from her fellow lefty, particularly because they share the same dominant hand.
The sixth overall pick in the 2026 PVL Rookie Draft played just her second official game with the Foxies on Saturday at the Mindanao Civic Center here, helping Farm Fresh dominate the Nxled Chameleons, 25-23, 25-13, 25-22, in the 2026 PVL On Tour Showdown.
“Idol. Idol si Ate Tubs,” Perdido immediately answered when asked about her fellow left-handed hitter.
“Kahit hindi po kami same position, marami po akong natututunan sa kanya sa training, yung mga pa-check ball niya saka yung power tip.”

Perdido and Tubu were part of the Strong Group Athletics squad that won silver at the Formosa Women’s Volleyball Invitational Tournament in Taiwan on August 2. The experience further strengthened their chemistry alongside five other Foxies and seven players from the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles.
The University of Santo Tomas product also expressed her gratitude to the rest of the Farm Fresh squad for making her transition to the team seamless.
“Naging madali naman po ang transition kasi ginaguide naman po ako ng mga ates and also Coach Koji. Gawin ko lang yung trabaho ko,” Perdido said.
Head coach Koji Tsuzurabara, meanwhile, said he believes in the two players the Foxies selected in the recent draft — Perdido and 11th overall pick Ela Raagas — but stressed that both rookies still have to work their way into the lineup.
The Japanese tactician also jokingly told Perdido that she would have to earn her playing time from Royse Tubino, who joined them during the postgame press conference.
“If she wants to be on the court, she has to win Royse’s minutes. She’s a rookie like Ela Raagas, but I expect them to play well,” said Tsuzurabara.
