Kaya-Iloilo opened its 2026-27 AFC Women’s Champions League campaign in emphatic fashion, routing host Ilbirs, 6-0, on Monday evening at GSA Dolen Omurzakov Stadium in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
National team standout Alex Carpio netted a brace in the 25th and 81st minutes, while Japanese defender Saki Yoshida added a 39th-minute header to give the Iloilo-based side a comfortable cushion at halftime.
“Everyone’s in positive spirits. We were a little bit worried when we first got here [because] the weather was a bit difficult to adjust to, but we got the job done, and we’re hoping to bring that to the next games,” said Carpio.
Kaya-Iloilo continued its onslaught in the second half, with Maye Mendaño scoring directly from a corner in the 57th minute for a stunning Olimpico.
Dionesa Tolentin then found the back of the net in the 72nd minute before American Marissa Vasquez capped the rout with a goal in stoppage time.
In the other Group D match, Hong Kong’s TSL secured a 2-0 victory over Cambodia’s Phnom Penh Crown, with former Tuloy sa Don Bosco standouts Isabella Bandoja and Lanie Ortillo seeing considerable playing time.
Meanwhile, Filipina defender Hali Long and BGC College of Asian Scholars cruised past Timor-Leste’s S’Amuser, 10-0, at Pathum Thani Stadium, with Long getting on the scoresheet in the 23rd minute.
Former Stallion Laguna and University of the Philippines players Alyssa Ube and Yanzie Yalong are yet to make their tournament debuts for their respective clubs, although both teams collected points on opening day.
Ube’s Ayeyawady of Myanmar posted a 4-0 victory over Singaporean side Jurong in Group F at Thuwunna Stadium, while Yalong’s Royal Thimphu College of Bhutan played to a draw against UAE side Banaat in Group C at Markaziy Stadium.
