Former PBA stars led by Chris Tiu are set to reunite with their old Xavier School teammates for an exhibition game highlighting the opening of the new basketball courts at the Mighty Sports Center in AcroCity on Sept. 27 in Guiguinto, Bulacan.
Tiu will be joined by fellow former PBA players Joseph Yeo and TY Tang, completing Xavier School’s celebrated “Big 3” from the school’s dominant high school basketball years.
The three played pivotal roles in Xavier’s success and went on to carve out professional careers, with Tiu becoming one of the most recognizable players of his generation, Tang establishing himself as a steady point guard, and Yeo earning a reputation as a dynamic scorer and one of the PBA’s most explosive guards.
Their reunion will be one of the highlights of the charity exhibition, which will bring together former and current basketball stars for the special event.
Also committed to seeing action is PBA coach Charles Tiu, who guided Mighty Sports to several international championships, including the 2020 Dubai International Basketball Championship.
Proceeds and support from the event will benefit Guiguinto student-athletes, the Persons with Disabilities Malolos Foundation, and the Xavier School Association Retired Colleagues, Incorporated.
“It’s our own way to give back to Guiguinto community, and of course, to our school, Xavier,” said AcroCity and Czark Mak Chairman Caesar Wongchuking. “We are glad that friends and players of Mighty Sports are going to lay and grace the event.”
Wongchuking also revealed that current PBA stars are expected to show up at the event, adding more star power to the exhibition game.
Mighty Sports has built a strong reputation in international basketball, becoming the first club from outside the Middle East to win the Dubai International Basketball Championship. The team also captured the Jones Cup twice, both times completing unbeaten 8-0 campaigns.
Beyond basketball, AcroCity features a boxing gym, pickleball and badminton courts, as well as a modern fitness center.
