Davison lauds Bedonia, Prado for breakout performances in her absence

CEBU CITY – For Savannah Davison, PLDT’s early success in the 2025 PVL On Tour came as no surprise — especially with Kiesha Bedonia and Jovie Prado finally getting their moment to shine.

With Davison sitting out the team’s first three matches and former starter Fiola Ceballos parting ways with the club in the offseason, Bedonia and Prado made the most of their promotion to the starting lineup.

The two put up solid numbers and helping the High Speed Hitters sweep Pool A to book a direct ticket to the quarterfinals.

Bedonia, just 22, averaged 11.6 points per game, while the 28-year-old Prado wasn’t far behind with 10.6 — contributions that gave PLDT a needed boost in Davison’s absence.

“They’re two really strong players, they give me a hard time in practice so I wasn’t surprised that they showed up and put up points,” said Davison, who returned to the lineup last week and played limited minutes in their final two games against Nxled and Galeries Tower at the USJ-R Coliseum here.

“I wouldn’t say [they] filled in, I would say more just like they did everything that they’ve been doing.

“I’m glad they had the chance and opportunity and I’m glad that they finished it out. Their defense, service, they’re completely capable of handling everything on their own. I’m just proud of them, always,” added the Fil-Canadian outside hitter, who was named Best Outside Hitter in the last All-Filipino Conference.

PLDT head coach Rald Ricafort also tipped his hat to his new starting duo, commending both players for stepping up and proving their worth on a bigger stage.

“Proud ako sa players, lalo ‘yung anim. Nakikita niyo naman, hangga’t kaya kong hindi gamitin si Savi para lang ‘yung improvement tsaka yung exposure dun sa dalawa [Prado and Bedonia], masagad namin,” said Ricafort.

As for Davison, she’s simply happy to be back on the bench and on the floor — ready to contribute in whatever way the team needs.

“I think for me, I’m just glad to be back with the team. It’s nice to be a part of something and contribute whether I’m on the court, off the court, whatever I can do,” she said.

Davison added that her time away from the team wasn’t a vacation; she spent it working out and staying in game shape so she could slide right back into PLDT’s system without missing a beat.
