Filipinas skipper Hali Long gets to add another chapter to her illustrious career.
A-League Women side Brisbane Roar announced Wednesday morning that it has completed the signing of Long ahead of its 2026-27 campaign.
The Roar, who last won the league title in 2018, will look to build on their fourth-place finish in the regular season and semifinal appearance in the previous Finals Series. Long’s arrival is expected to provide a boost to the heart of Brisbane’s defense heading into the new season.
“Hali is a genuine, proper defender. She loves to tackle and head the ball in all circumstances, and she’ll no doubt put her body on the line for Brisbane,” head coach Jonathan Clemente said. “She’s a leader and legend of Philippines football as captain with 106 international caps.”
Long’s move to Australia marks her second major transfer as a professional football player. She previously enjoyed a successful stint with Thailand’s BGC–College of Asian Scholars, where she competed in domestic and continental competitions during the 2025-26 season.
The two-time PFF Women’s League champion will reunite with international teammate Katrina Guillou, who signed with Brisbane a few weeks ago. Long and Guillou are the latest Filipinas to compete in the A-League Women, following Sarina Bolden, Jaclyn Sawicki, Jessika Cowart, and Angie Beard.
Long, for her part, is eager to begin this new chapter of her career.
“I’m excited to take on a new challenge in a new country and ready to push myself while helping the team reach its goals this year. I can’t wait to meet the girls and get started,” she said.
Brisbane will open its campaign at home against the Central Coast Mariners on October 17 — more than two weeks after Long and the Filipinas wrap up their campaign in the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, which runs from Monday through October 2.
