Twisted Minds kept their playoff hopes alive in MPL Philippines Season 15 after a dominant 2-0 sweep of AP.Bren on Saturday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.
Coming off a tough 1-2 loss to Smart Omega just a day earlier, Twisted Minds bounced back with authority, overwhelming an AP.Bren squad that sat at the bottom of the standings with a 1-9 record heading into the match.
In the post-game interview, Twisted Minds head coach Bonn “BON CHAN” Ricaplaza said the win relieved a lot of pressure from his players, as the fate of their playoff bid now rests largely on Omega’s performance in its remaining matches.
“Yung magandang nangyari, nasa Omega na yung pressure uli, compare kahapon na after ng game nasa amin yung pressure na kahit anong mangyari 2-0 dapat ‘to, ‘di dapat 2-1, dapat 2-0, ‘di dapat talo,” said BON CHAN.
Twisted Minds stunned the Hive by drafting Leomord for Michael “MPtheKing.” Endino in Game 1. Although AP.Bren tried to counter with their own surprise pick of Carmilla, MPtheKing. proved unstoppable, finishing with four kills and four assists.
Building on his strong showing, MPtheKing. delivered an even more impressive performance in Game 2, using Ling to tally seven kills and six assists in just 12 minutes and 24 seconds of action.
Now holding a 3-10 record, Twisted Minds will battle ONIC Philippines in a crucial matchup on May 4, the final day of the elimination phase, with their playoff dreams on the line.
Meanwhile, AP.Bren will aim to grab a second win when they take on ONIC this Sunday at 7:30 PM.
