Coming back from a season off, AP.Bren mid laner Arvie “Aqua” Antonio couldn’t hide his disappointment after falling short of leading his team to the MPL Philippines Season 16 playoffs.
The 23-year-old veteran admitted that he couldn’t help but feel disheartened, especially after dedicating himself to returning stronger this season following a one-season break.
“Malungkot kasi hindi nakapag-playoffs since dream ko din na makapag-worlds. Nag-grind na, kasi gusto ko bumawi kaso yun, di talaga kinaya,” Aqua shared in an exclusive interview with Tiebreaker Times.
Aqua pointed out that the team’s lack of chemistry was one of their biggest struggles this season.
Despite the setbacks, the seasoned mid laner remains positive—driven by his desire to learn, grow, and come back stronger with his new squad.
“Siguro yung chemistry maraming kulang lalo na nag-build ulit ng new roster. Siguro lahat kailangan yung all-in mindset,” he explained.
Known for his calm yet calculated presence in the midlane, Aqua has long been regarded as one of the league’s most consistent veterans. His return this season was met with anticipation, as fans expected him to provide stability and leadership for AP.Bren’s young roster.
“Sobrang daming natutunan, lalo na sa bago kong team. Siguro para sarili ko, more improvement pa,” he said.
After stepping away from the league, Aqua’s comeback symbolized a new chapter — both for himself and for an AP.Bren squad looking to rebuild its identity following major roster changes.
With lessons gained from both triumphs and defeats, Aqua remains steadfast in chasing his dream of representing the Philippines on the world stage.
“Mindset ko, enjoy lang and more improvement pa kasi di pa naman natatapos ang laban, marami pang mga season,” he concluded.
