TNC Pro Team’s victory over reigning world champions ONIC Philippines marked a defining moment for head coach Patrick “E2max” Caidic.
Not only did he steer the Phoenix Army to its best finish in three years, but he also outdueled his longtime mentor, Tony “Ynot” Senedrin, in a tactical masterclass.
While the win brought immense satisfaction, E2max admitted it was also bittersweet — knowing it came at the expense of someone who had guided him through his own journey.
“Siyempre nakaka-proud and alam ko kahit natalo ko siya, alam ko super proud siya sa’kin,” E2max told Tiebreaker Times.
He added that the bond they built over the years goes far beyond the competitive stage — a relationship forged through shared dreams, struggles, and mutual respect.
“Siyempre may part na malungkot kasi gusto talaga namin mag-finals eh. Yun talaga pangarap ko eh — makapag-finals kami, international, mag-represent kami. Kasi iba yung turingan namin sa isa’t isa eh, yan sila Kelra, buong ONIC, yan parang pamilya na talaga sa’kin,” he shared.
Ynot first coached E2max when Smart Omega absorbed Execration’s MSC-winning roster prior to Season 8.
The 29-year-old tactician later began his own coaching career as Ynot’s assistant in Season 11 before reuniting with him in Season 13, when they joined ONIC Philippines’ major roster revamp.
Looking back on their shared journey, E2max expressed his gratitude and acknowledged that much of his growth as a coach came from Ynot’s influence and mentorship.
“Siyempre happy ako kasi halos yung pagco-coach ko talaga, sa kanya ko talaga nakuha eh, kung paano ako mag-coach ngayon, sa kanya ko nakuha,” he said.
