Islay Bomogao showcased her dominance in all facets of the game, securing a decisive victory on ONE Friday Fights 93 at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 24-year-old standout from Baguio City outclassed China’s Ran Longshu in a 101-pound catchweight Muay Thai tilt, capping off a stellar performance that further solidified her rising stock.
Despite the commanding win, Bomogao faced early adversity. Both fighters came out swinging in the opening round, with Ran aggressively closing the distance and landing short, impactful strikes.
Bomogao, however, responded with sharp elbows in close quarters, signaling her readiness for a gritty battle.
As the bout progressed, Bomogao began to find her rhythm, adapting to Ran’s relentless pace and gradually imposing her will in the clinch.
With Ran giving her some space, Bomogao capitalized by delivering punishing straight right hands to the body, visibly slowing her Chinese opponent.
The Filipina heroine carried her momentum into the second round, using precise front kicks and straight punches to keep Ran at bay while disrupting her rhythm.
Bomogao’s control and calculated aggression extended into the final frame, where she connected cleanly with a jab to the head followed by a right hand to the body.
Ran made a desperate rally in the closing seconds, throwing everything she had to unsettle Bomogao. However, the Team Bagsik representative remained composed, landing clean shots that underscored her superiority.
When the final bell rang, Bomogao smiled confidently as the judges unanimously awarded her the victory. The triumph improved her record under the promotion’s banner to 2-0.
Meanwhile, Ran faced a tough setback in her professional debut.
