The Philippine muay team is off to a golden start.
Islay Bomogao and Rhichein Yosorez set Tean Bagsik’s campaign into motion with the gold in women’s waikru and mai muay doubles with 8.68 on the first day of the 31st Southeast Asian Games muay competitions, Tuesday at the Vinh Phuc Gymnasium in Vinh Phuc, Vietnam.
The Filipino pair edged out Vietnam’s Thi Diem Trang Pham and Thi Bich Lieu Pham, who took the silver with 8.56.
Thailand’s Mawadee Heetnoo and Thanawan Thongduang bagged the bronze with 8.35.
Bomogao competed as well in the 2019 Games in the combat event in the women’s 45 kg, where she bagged the silver.
This is the 32nd gold of the Philippines in the Games.
