ONIC Philippines secured its first-ever playoff appearance in the MLBB Mid Season Cup after a dominant 2-0 sweep of Malaysia’s HomeBois on Sunday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The Filipino squad — already a seasoned contender in the M-series World Championships — will make its playoff debut in MSC history, continuing their international momentum following their M6 World Championship triumph in December 2024 and their ESL Snapdragon Pro Series: Mobile Masters title win last April.
Game 1 was a battle of map objectives.
Despite trailing in kills, 2-6, by the eighth minute, ONIC managed to stay even in net worth by securing all three Turtle buffs, denying HomeBois a significant economic lead.
Duane “Kelra” Pillas (Granger) then exploded with a triple kill during a 4-for-1 exchange late in the 12th minute, propelling ONIC to a 1-0 match advantage.
In Game 2, Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez picked Luo Yi and set the tone early, helping ONIC establish control.
His brilliant use of Diversion in the ninth minute nearly sealed the series.
Kelra then capped off the sweep with a display of pure mechanical finesse, outplaying HomeBois’ Onward during a pivotal clash.
His calculated positioning against a Feathered Airstrike led to a decisive 4-for-1 punish, clinching the match and the series for ONIC.
The 20-year-old gold laner finished with a flawless 6-0-6 KDA in the closeout victory, further cementing his status as one of the region’s most lethal marksmen.
