KUALA LUMPUR – Duane “Kelra” Pillas and Fnatic ONIC extended the Philippines’ reign in the M-Series by sweeping its way to the M6 World Championship title on Sunday night.
The Sonics asserted their mastery of Team Liquid ID, 4-1, to secure the country’s fifth consecutive world title and become the first squad to achieve a perfect campaign since EVOS Legends in M1 at the Axiata Arena here.
Fnatic ONIC set the tone as early as Game 1. The Filipinos secured the first Lord in the 8th minute and punished the Indonesians for attempting a trade after the Lord fight, resulting in a five-man wipe.
Kelra (Bruno), who got a triple kill during that pivotal clash, got his Malefic Gun afterwards which proved to be a problem for Team Liquid. Kelra chipped away the opposing side’s turrets after getting his key item, eventually leading Fnatic ONIC to a quick 1-0 lead after 14 minutes of action.
The Sonics followed it up with another dominant outing in Game 2, getting a five-man wipe led by Kelra’s Bruno as early as the 6th minute to flex its might against the struggling Team Liquid ID, which once again failed to comeback as the Filipino squad settled the match after 11 minutes for 2-0 advantage.
Game 3 saw the Indonesian squad contain Kelra’s Harith that led to Fnatic ONIC PH’s downfall, but the former MSC MVP bounced back in the fourth game with a standout Beatrix performance that allowed the Sonics to move on the verge of securing the title.
Fnatic ONIC PH then took care of business in Game 5 to secure the title.
