Alex Eala, Maya Joint clash for maiden WTA title

For the first time in their budding careers, Alex Eala and Maya Joint will cross paths on the tennis court — and with a WTA title on the line.

Eala secured her spot in the Eastbourne Open final after a grueling 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 semifinal triumph over France’s Varvara Gracheva in a WTA 250 showdown that lasted two hours and 22 minutes.

Meanwhile, the 19-year-old Joint followed suit with a composed 7-5, 6-3 victory over seasoned Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

The Eastbourne final marks Eala’s first appearance in a WTA-level title match and could serve as a pivotal moment in her career as she seeks to break into the sport’s elite tier.

“I’m overwhelmed with emotions—happiness, hunger, tiredness. There’s so many things going on in my head,” said Eala in a WTA post-match interview.

“I’m just trying to enjoy the win.”

Catch the much-anticipated Eala-Joint title clash tonight at 8:30 PM on Premier Sports 2 via Blast TV.
