Vintage KarlTzy leads way as Team Liquid secures MSC playoff berth

Team Liquid PH flirted with disaster before coming from behind to pull off a 2-1 reverse sweep of ONIC Esports and enter the playoffs of the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2025 on Friday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

With the win, Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno, Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya, and Alston “Sanji” Pabico successfully avenged their 3-0 defeat at the hands of ONIC ID in the MSC 2023.

The reigning MPL Philippines champions controlled the majority of the opening game but overstayed during a 24th minute base turret siege that led to a 3-for-none pick off.

This provided ONIC with the opening to force a one-way base turret siege and take a 1-0 series lead.

It looked like a sweep was on the way when the MPL ID champions established a 4,000 net worth lead late in the 9th minute but Kiel “Oheb” Soriano (Moskov) showed impeccable marksmanship as he unveiled a timely Spear of Destruction to steal the lord away for TLPH.

KarlTzy then showed his prowess with the Lancelot pick as he punctured his way to a double kill during a 14th minute aggression that capped a 5-for-none wipeout and force the decider.

Sanji (Valentina) and Sanford (Lapu-Lapu) then combined for four kills and 10 assists in the decisive rubber match to keep ONIC at bay culminating in another 14-minute victory to clinch the series.

The SanSan duo spearheaded TLPH’s 11-2 dominance in the kill score to become the second team out of Group A to advance to the playoffs alongside Myanmar’s Mythical Seal.
