Despite being two years away from graduating high school, Sage Tolentino already knows where he is headed for college.
The 16-year-old has committed to join Division I school Auburn University.
“My family and I have prayed about this day since I was a kid. I am beyond blessed and I give God all the Glory,” the 7-foot Filipino-American prospect shared.
Auburn is an elite basketball program that has produced the likes of Charles Barkley, Chris Porter, Chuck Person, and, most recently, Chuma Okeke. It competes in the Southeastern Conference.
For the past two years, Auburn has made it to March Madness after last making it in 2003.
“Auburn University’s core traditions are passion and spirit and they are exactly the program I want to spend my time at developing at the next level,” he said about his decision.
Other schools that courted Tolentino were Kansas and Kentucky.
Tolentino is a product of Maryknoll High School, steering the school to back-to-back crowns in the HHSAA.
Last season, he posted norms of 13.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks per game.
He is currently training under East West Private.
