The dream of an all-Filipino grand finals showdown came to an end as ONIC Philippines fell to defending champions SRG.OG, 3–2, in the semifinals of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup 2025, held Friday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Unlike their impressive quarterfinal performance against Team Spirit, ONIC struggled to sustain momentum.
After a dominant Game 2 win, they failed to carry that energy into the following matches, dropping the next two games and ultimately the series.
ONIC bounced back in Game 2 after dropping the opener, riding on the stellar play of King “K1NGKONG” Perez and Duane “Kelra” Pillas.
The duo secured their comfort picks — Lancelot and Granger — and combined for 14 kills and 11 assists while only conceding three deaths.
Their heroics led ONIC to a 12-minute win, putting the series at 1–1.
However, things quickly turned in Game 3, as SRG.OG claimed the blue side advantage during the draft.
ONIC appeared shaky early on, and SRG’s Filipino gold laner John “Innocent” Banal took full control with a phenomenal Bruno performance.
He finished with a 4-0-2 KDA in just 10 minutes, leading SRG to a swift and decisive victory.
ONIC managed to force a Game 5, but the momentum clearly belonged to SRG.
The Malaysian squad dominated the early stages of the deciding match, led by Muhammad Haqqullah “Sekys” Ahmad Shahrul Zaman on Akai.
Sekys secured all three Turtle objectives, triggering a string of 2-for-1 trades that helped SRG build a 3,100 gold lead by the eighth minute.
From that point on, it was all SRG. ONIC couldn’t recover or find an effective counter, and their MSC 2025 campaign ended one win short of the grand finals.
