Light returns to MPL PH bringing growth and maturity after MPL ID stint

After a woeful Season 14 that saw RSG Philippines miss the playoffs for the first time since its entry in the league in Season 8, Roamer Dylan “Light” Catipon found himself exploring overseas opportunities as his MPL Philippines dream dimmed.

Joining a team that narrowly missed the last slot to the M6 World Championship, Light’s addition to Bigetron Esports looked promising as he joined forces with former RSG PH teammate Eman “EMANN” Sangco, with whom he shared one MSC title.

But as the season went on, BTR struggled to find its identity, and Light experienced being benched multiple times in favor of Muhammad “Finn” Hikmatullah.

Playing on a new team, different from the structured approach of Coach Brian “Panda” Lim at RSG PH, Light reveals coming into conflict with some of his teammates.

And this is where he saw growth, as he acknowledged the mistake in his approach during his only overseas campaign so far.

He preaches a more mature mindset, and he sets his sights on the MPL Philippines Season 16 trophy.

“Mindset lang talaga pati rin sa paghandle ng mga bagay, lalo na sa hard times.

“Kasi parang ang tingin ko noon halimbawa coach kita, dapat matulungan mo ko maggrow. Like for example, jungler ka, dapat makuha mo yung target. At dahil sa lahat ng yun feel ko hindi namin makuha yung full potential namin (sa BTR) since kulang ito, kulang yun. Parang nakalimutan ko na mag-reflect sa sarili ko,” shared Light in an exclusive interview with Tiebreaker Times, explaining what went down during his stay at BTR.

“Yun yung pinaka-realization ko na happy ako kasi na-overcome ko siya,” he added

His self-reflection helped him approach Season 16 differently as he now reunites with another former RSG Philippines comrade, Jonard “Demonkite” Caranto, in Aurora.

“After nung BTR, happy na lang ulit. Para akong estudyante na nag-aaral nang masaya kasi sa sarili ko lang and wala akong negative emotion. Continue improving lang,” shared the 22-year-old roamer.

“I believe kaya naman namin mag-champion. Parang championship contender kami eh. With the right mindset and growth, I believe makakamit naman namin yun.”
