Aurora closer to M7 playoffs after sweeping Team Zone

Contrary to their M6 campaign, Aurora Gaming PH moved to the brink of a playoff appearance after dispatching Mongolia’s Team Zone, 1–0, in Round 3 of the M7 World Championship Swiss Stage on Monday at the MPL Arena XO Hall in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The MPL Philippines runners-up have now won two straight matches after dropping their opener to compatriots Team Liquid, 1–0.

Edward “Edward” Dapadap put on a masterclass with Arlott, drawing first blood just two minutes in and igniting a decisive 3-for-1 exchange that allowed the Filipinos to seize early control.

The veteran EXP laner stayed in vintage form, erupting for a stunning triple kill in the fifth minute despite being caught in a disadvantageous two-on-four skirmish.

Jan “Domeng” Delmundo later put the exclamation point on Aurora’s dominance, as his Claude secured a late double kill to seal the emphatic 19-minute victory.

Aurora can clinch a playoff berth with a win in the 2–1 bracket in Round 4, scheduled for January 15–16.

Back in M6, Aurora stumbled out of the gate, suffering two opening losses before finally breaking through with a win against Türkiye’s ULFHEDNAR in Round 3.

They eventually bowed out in Round 4 after absorbing a 2–0 defeat at the hands of eventual third-placer Selangor Red Giants of Malaysia.
