ECHO picked up its sixth win via default after Nexplay EVOS failed to arrive at the venue on time, Sunday evening.
The much-anticipated match was slated to start at 8:00 PM, but Nexplay EVOS have yet to reach the venue as of posting time.
According to the MPL Philippines Operating committee, Nexplay EVOS was in violation of section 7.3.4.2.8 of the Season Nine rulebook which states that teams must prepare for the match an hour prior to starting and entering the game online fifteen minutes before the match.
The rule also states that if one team has not entered into the match room which has been prepared after twenty minutes, the late team by default is considered to have lost the match.
According to the league’s announcement, Nexplay EVOS did not arrive as of 8:33 PM — forcing the organizers to declare ECHO as the winner of the series.
The league also apologized to fans for the inconvenience.
With the win, ECHO claimed the top spot anew with 18 points off a 6-1 standing. On the other hand, Nexplay EVOS dropped to 4-3 with 11 points at the fourth spot.
