Just days before the commencement of the MLBB Mid-Season Cup (MSC), a remarkable meeting took place that captured the attention of esports fans worldwide.
Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno, the prodigious jungler for Team Liquid ECHO, came face to face with Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, a mid laner for T1, as both prepared to compete in the prestigious Esports World Cup also set in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
For KarlTzy, the encounter was nothing short of surreal.
Standing in the presence of a player he had long admired, he couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed.
“Nakaka-starstruck po, nanginginig ako parang hindi ako makapaniwala na nandoon lang siya,” KarlTzy shared with Tiebreaker Times.
The moment was immortalized in a photograph that KarlTzy posted on Facebook, which quickly went viral.
Fans were quick to voice their amazement, noting that two of the greatest players of all time (GOAT) were captured in a single frame.
The term “GOAT” is often used to describe the best players in their respective fields, and for fans, seeing KarlTzy and Faker together was a historic moment.
Both KarlTzy and Faker have had illustrious careers, with numerous titles and accolades that have secured their places in the Hall of Legends for their respective games, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) and League of Legends (LoL).
Despite the lofty comparisons made by fans, KarlTzy remained humble, quick to acknowledge the significant gap between him and the legendary Faker.
“Sila na po bahala don, pero sana wag masamain ng ibang fans kase pang clout lang naman ‘yon. Kilala ninyo naman si Faker na sobrang laki ng difference namin,” KarlTzy commented, downplaying the comparison.
The comparison between the two players sparked discussions across various social media platforms.
Fans analyzed their gameplay styles, noting that while both players exhibit exceptional skill and strategic thinking, their approaches to the game set them apart.
KarlTzy reflected on this, pointing out that the primary similarity between them lies in their cerebral approach to the game.
“Siguro po ano, ginagamit niya yung utak niya kaysa sa daliri,” KarlTzy concluded.
