NCAA basketball opens Sep 13, shifts to weekday slate


Sans opening day, NCAA Season 102 basketball will return to a weekday-only schedule.

After the opening day on Sunday, September 13 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, the rest of the NCAA Season 102 group phase will be played exclusively on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

The opening-day doubleheader will see season host and defending Seniors Basketball champion San Beda University take on College of Saint Benilde at 2:00 PM. Colegio de San Juan de Letran against the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA follows at 4:00 PM.

Starting September 14, each playdate will feature two Juniors games and two Seniors games. The Juniors games will be played at 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM, while the Seniors games will tip off at 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM.

In both divisions, San Beda and Benilde will be in Group A alongside Jose Rizal University, Lyceum of the Philippines University, and Mapua University.

Group B, meanwhile, will consist of Letran, Perpetual Help, Emilio Aguinaldo College, Arellano University, and San Sebastian College-Recoletos.

The first round of the group phase will run from September 13 to 29, with all games scheduled at the Filoil Centre except for the September 21 and September 25 playdates, which will take place at the Philsports Arena.

The crossover round will then run from October 1 to 22, also at the Filoil Centre, with the October 9 playdate set at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

The second round of the group phase will follow from October 23 to November 10. The October 30 games will be held at the San Andres Gym, while the November 9 playdate will take place at the Philsports Arena.

During the opening week, San Sebastian will face Arellano while Mapua takes on JRU on September 14. Perpetual Help, meanwhile, will open its campaign against EAC on September 17.

The first meeting between San Beda and JRU this season is set for Friday, September 18, at 3:00 PM.

Marquee matchups in the second round include San Beda versus Letran on October 5 at 5:00 PM, JRU versus Letran on October 15 at 5:00 PM, and Letran versus Benilde on October 20 at 3:00 PM.

The second-round meeting between San Beda and JRU will open the second group phase on October 23, while the phase will close with San Beda and Benilde squaring off on November 10.
