After an 18-month absence, Mikey Williams is finally returning to the PBA.
But this time, it won’t be with TNT.
The Tropang 5G have traded the rights to the two-time PBA Finals Most Valuable Player to the Converge FiberXers in exchange for sharpshooting guard Jordan Heading.
Multiple sources from both camps confirmed the development to Tiebreaker Times, with Converge owner Dennis Uy himself informing the Fil-Australian guard of the transaction on Wednesday.
The trade is pending league approval.
This move marks the end of a long and drawn-out saga between Williams and TNT.
After steering the Tropang 5G to the 2023 PBA Governors’ Cup championship, Williams went AWOL, claiming that his contract allowed him to renegotiate after every season.
However, the two sides failed to come to terms, and what began as a temporary standoff stretched into months, eventually turning into years.
In January, Williams returned to the Philippines to play for Strong Group in the 2025 Dubai International Basketball Championship.
He also attempted to reopen talks with TNT management, but negotiations again fell flat.
There was a glimmer of hope among TNT fans when long-time star Jayson Castro suffered a season-ending full-thickness patellar tendon tear.
Speculation grew that the team would finally bring back Williams.
Yet, no deal was finalized.
Now, Williams will begin a new chapter with the FiberXers.
Meanwhile, TNT is acquiring a capable replacement in Heading, who has proven himself as a reliable contributor since joining Converge.
He helped steer the FiberXers to back-to-back quarterfinal appearances, including a strong showing in the 2024-25 Commissioner’s Cup. There, he averaged 17.7 points, 5.9 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game.
However, Heading has yet to suit up this conference due to a back injury.
TNT is hopeful that the 6-foot-2 guard will recover soon and bolster their lineup as the team eyes a rare Grand Slam.
