The main event for ONE: Roots of Honor is as explosive as it comes.
When ONE Featherweight World Champion Martin Nguyen (11-3) takes on former division kingpin Narantungalag Jadambaa (14-5), the two athletes will bring 10 knockout finishes combined.
Surprisingly, Nguyen has more finishes due to strikes than the Mongolian striking savant, with six.
But all that matters come Friday night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena is who will have the ‘greater power’.
For the 30-year-old former two-division champion, both he and Jadambaa hold equal amounts of power. The difference will be the timing of the blows.
“I think we both have greater power,” opined the Vietnamese-Australian.
“We’ll know on Friday night when we land the punch and who crumbles.”
On the other hand, the 43-year-old athlete shared that he will showcase his well-rounded skill set.
“This coming Friday, I will come with deep experience. Ever since I was young, I’ve practiced karate, sambo, judo, and all. I will show my experience,” said Jadambaa, who has four submission wins to his name.
“I will share the best of every martial art there is.”
But beyond going for the finish, the two sure-fire hall-of-famers are simply honored to share the cage with each other in this legend versus icon bout.
“This is not about age, this is about passion. Martial arts is my life and I hold the utmost respect for anyone who has the courage to step inside that cage,” declared Jadambaa.
“I will bring even more courage into the cage this Friday.”
“I’m very excited. I feel that this is my time and my legacy. I’m humbled to face a legend like Jadambaa,” expressed Nguyen.
“Everyone calls out Jadambaa but when it comes to accepting the fight, nine out of ten people would say no. When his name was raised, I put pens and paper straight away.”
