The world is facing a two-fold problem that needs to be addressed quickly, and it is something ONE Championship is actively battling.
First is COVID-19, which has taken tens of thousands of lives from different parts of the planet since December. The second is racism.
As the pandemic continues to paralyze the entire world, cases of racism have been on the rise as well, with people of Asian descent bearing the brunt of irrational fears.
The virus may have originated from Asia – Wuhan, China to be exact – but it does not give anyone a free pass to chastise people from certain races.
That is the message ONE wants to send in their “#WeAreONE Against Racism” campaign, which kicked off with a video starring ONE superstars with mixed nationalities.
Starring in the video are ONE Featherweight World Champion Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, who is of Vietnamese-Australian heritage; Armenian-Italian ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan; and reigning ONE Lightweight World Champion Christian “The Warrior” Lee, who is a Singaporean-American, among others.
The message of the video is simple: “No country has a face. No virus has a race. End the hate. End racism.”
Diversity has always been celebrated by the organization since its inception in 2011, evident by their roster of not only Asian stars, but the biggest martial artists from Western countries as well.
The Home Of Martial Arts is also putting up exclusive limited edition t-shirts on ONE.SHOP, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the fight against COVID-19.
ONE has also become an official broadcaster of Global Citizen One World: Together At Home Global Music Special, which airs on Sunday 19 April, 2:00AM PHT on the ONE Championship Facebook page and the ONE Super App.
