PBA 3×3 Grand Finals to resume on April 27

The PBA has pencilled in the 3×3 Second Conference Grand Finals’ resumption for April 27 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Commissioner Willie Marcial said that everything will be finalized once they receive confirmation from broadcast partner TV5 regarding their plans of playing the tourney stalled by a fire incident inside the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

“Kinakausap ko na lamang ang ating television partner,” the league chieftain told Tiebreaker Times shortly after his meeting with PBA 3×3 officials, Thursday.

Should it materialize, the PBA’s halfcourt competitions will mark its return to the venue since Leg 5 of the First Conference last December 12.

There, Limitless App edged TNT in the final, 14-13, to cop its first-ever leg title. It was the beginning of the Appmasters’ dominant streak, as they went on to rule the following leg before emerging as the first-ever grand champions.

Nine games are expected to be played in the Grand Finals’ resumption, starting with the Ginebra-Platinum Karaoke tiff to wrap up the pool stage.

The Gin Kings and the guest squad were actually set to hit the court on Wednesday until all teams, players, officials, and staffers were asked to evacuate the Big Dome as smoke began to fill the venue.

Crucial is that match-up, since it will determine the final standings in Pool B — and the two teams that will complete the quarterfinal cast.

The Barangay is still sitting atop the group with a 1-0 record. Behind them is the 1-1 Terrafirma, while Platinum is carrying a 0-1 slate.

The Pool B top seed will face two-time leg champions San Miguel, while the No. 2 team is set to take on Leg 1 rulers Tropang Giga.

Two quarters brackets have already been filled up. Pool A leaders Sista (2-0) is scheduled to meet Meralco, as Pioneer Pro Tibay (1-1) will face Limitless.
