Jalen Green now has his own Dyckman Park moment.
Playing in the red carpet of streetball, the athletic Filipino-American guard emerged as one of two Most Valuable Players of the 2018 SLAM Summer Classic in New York City.
Green shared the award with 6-foot-11 James Wiseman. Wiseman is the top prospect in the ESPN 100’s class of 2019, while Green is the second-ranked in 2020, as per DraftExpressContent.
Green played for Team Stanley in the bout that presented America’s top young players. But they lost to Wiseman and Team Ramsey, 90-100.
The 6-foot-5 guard also took part in the SLAM Summer Classic Dunk Contest a day before the main event.
The crowd at the Dyckman Park was star-studded as Brooklyn Nets guard D’Angelo Russell and new Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Lance Stephenson were in attendance.
After the match, Green and RJ Hampton – who won the gold for USA in the FIBA U-17 Basketball World Cup this July – announced that they will make official visits to University of Memphis.
According to a report by Memphis’ Commercial Appeal earlier, the two guards will be hosted by NBA legend and current Memphis Tigers head coach Penny Hardaway.
