PBA moves Tuesday games to Ynares Antipolo amid NAS repairs

The PBA is bringing its Season 50 Governors’ Cup games to Antipolo this Tuesday as the Ninoy Aquino Stadium is expected to undergo repairs soon.

The league announced the venue switch on Sunday, with the arena inside the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila still deemed unplayable.

A roof leak interrupted the Magnolia-Meralco game last Friday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, but play eventually resumed. The Hotshots eventually pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 105-88 victory to follow up their massive Manila Clasico win.

The leak occurred a week after a stretch of M. Adriatico Street and parts of the venue’s parking area were flooded, leaving fans and even some players and team staff stranded during the July 28 gameday.

Sunday’s games were also scheduled to be played at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, but the PBA postponed the doubleheader due to severe weather conditions.

Phoenix and Rain or Shine were supposed to battle for the Group B lead, with both teams carrying 4-2 records, followed by Barangay Ginebra and Blackwater.

The league said in a statement that the updated schedule of games will be announced through its official channels soon.

Tuesday’s games at the Ynares Center will pit Terrafirma against the free-falling Converge before NLEX and TNT figure in another all-MVP showdown.
