The Philippines will make its debut in the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup after being awarded a wildcard spot for the 2026 group stage.
On Tuesday, the World Baseball Softball Confederation granted the lone wildcard entry to the 21st-ranked Philippines, completing the 12-team field that will compete in the group stage of the tournament.
The Nationals will compete in Group Tainan in Taiwan, where they are grouped with seven-time defending champion and world No. 1 Japan, No. 5 Venezuela, host and world No. 6 Chinese Taipei, No. 7 Cuba, and No. 15 Great Britain.
Group Tainan games will run from August 23 to 27, while Group Rockford will be held earlier from July 22 to 27.
Group Rockford, which will be staged in Illinois, features host and world No. 2 United States, No. 3 Canada, No. 4 Mexico, No. 8 Hong Kong, No. 10 Australia, and No. 12 South Korea.
The top three teams from each group will advance to the World Cup Final Stage, scheduled for July 19 to 25 in 2027.
The Philippines last saw action in November 2025 during the 4th BFA Asian Cup, where it finished sixth.
