After three years, Jalen Green is finally back home in the Philippines.
But unlike three years ago, Green isn’t here to play against his fellow Filipino peers. Green, 20 and now a bonafide NBA player, is in town as part of his duties as an adidas global ambassador.
The 6-foot-4 guard of Houston expressed his happiness to finally be back in his second home during the press conference of the JG4 Manila Tour held at the Adidas Brand Center in Makati on Thursday.
“Whenever I’m in the Philippines everyone is giving me so much love and support. So I come back, and give my love and support back to them [Filipinos] and It means the world to me,” expressed Green.
“I am just happy to be here.”
The last time Green was in the country was all the way back in 2019 when he participated in the Chooks-to-Go NBTC National Finals as part of the FilAm Sports USA.
And just like his visit back in 2019, he is still receiving the same love and support from his Filipino fans.
“Everybody’s saying like how they’re gonna get my jersey, how much love they are showing. I didn’t change since form when I was in high school,” said Green.
“I came here my sophomore, junior year, to now it’s still the same and I appreciate everyone giving me the same love and energy. They’re right by my side.”
Now that he’s back, Green looks forward to seeing his relatives and visiting his hometown of Ilocos Sur.
“I think just being here, seeing a lot of people, seeing a lot of fans and going back to my family’s hometown and seeing just how the culture is right there.”
