Although he had to wear an immobilizer and needed crutches, Jerramy King still showed up at the SMART Araneta Coliseum and supported his Columbian Dyip versus the Phoenix Fuel Masters, Wednesday evening.
Just recently, King was diagnosed with a torn posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. He sustained the injury last week during their clash with reigning four-time All-Filipino champs San Miguel Beermen, which they won 124-118. King tallied seven points and eight rebounds in the game.
King will be out for three months.
“Yes. I’m supporting the team as much as I can. I want to part of it as part as I can. You know, it’s too bad because of my injury, but I’m gonna do everything to help the team,” said King after the Dyip’s 98-108 loss to the Fuel Masters.
“Stay and be a leader as I can for the young guys. We’re a young team so I will just try to stay positive.”
The four-year pro admitted that the injury is a tough blow for him and his young career, since he’s been playing well from last season. Still, he pointed out that he was lucky the injury wasn’t worse.
“It’s a tough injury. Like you said, I was a candidate for Most Improved and I’ve been playing well,” said King, the 36th overall pick by the NLEX Road Warriors in 2014. “But I’ve heard a lot worse like ACL. I’m just glad it’s my PCL.
“You know, everything’s in God’s hands. And if this is the position I needed to be in, I just try to stay positive and come back stronger.”
