Abat shut down as Cignal closes DPC campaign with loss

Galaxy Racer shackled carry Denz “Abat” Anedez to score a 2-0 sweep of Cignal in the Dota Pro Circuit 2021: S1-Southeast Asia Lower Division, Saturday evening.

Abat struggled early on in the series, ending up with four kills, nine deaths, and seven assists in the deflating 17-45 Game One loss while Cignal midlaner James “Jamesy” John had eight kills, eight deaths, and four assists.

Vincent “AlaCrity” Hiew Teck Yoong’s Morphling was a huge problem for Cignal in the opener. The Galaxy Racer carry put up monster line of 17 kills and eight assists against two deaths all while collecting a game-high 29,904 net worth in the 42:14-minute match.

But it was the supporting cast of Adrian “Destrice” Eng (Rubick) and Adam Erwann Shah “343” bin Akhtar Hussein (Spiritbreaker) who did most of the damage on Cignal. Destrice registered a game-high 27 assists along with two kills and a death while 343 added 25 assists and three kills against seven deaths.

Galaxy Racer continued to put the clamps on Abat in Game Two, limiting the Cignal star to just a kill, six deaths, and five assists en route to a 2-0 sweep.

Filipino midlaner Nikko “Nikko” Bilocura (Puck) took the baton for Galaxy Racer with 11 kills and 14 assists against three deaths. AlaCrity (Weaver) sustained his momentum from the opener, finishing with a game-high 21 assists laced with eight kills and a death.

With the loss, Cignal dropped its second consecutive match and now has a 4-3 card tied with Galaxy Racer in the third seat. Both squads will now pin their upper division hopes on a Lilgun loss against the eighth-ranked Yangon Galacticos for a tiebreaker.
