Prior to the league’s sixth week, Renejay “RENEJAY” Barcarse made one simple request to the coaching staff of Nexplay EVOS.
Renejay, through Setsuna “Akosi Dogie” Ignacio, asked if he could slide back to the experience lane – his former role in the past seasons.
After much deliberation, the coaching staff headed by John Michael “Zico” Dizon and Neil “Midnight” De Guzman gave the green light to Renejay. They inserted Jhonwin “Hesa” Merced to the starting unit while pulling out James “Jeymz” Gloria.
And let’s just say that the move paid dividends for the once struggling squad, which is now at the third spot all of a sudden, all thanks to Renejay’s request.
“Tinry po namin si Renejay [sa experience lane] kasi ‘yung playstyle ni Renejay aggressive, tapos si Hesa play safe. Kaya bagay po sila na sila yung side lane namin dalawa,” said Zico after the win against TNC on Sunday night.
With Renejay back to his natural position, Nexplay EVOS managed to collect a crucial sweep against ECHO to start the week before dragging reigning champion Blacklist International to a tight 2-1 series.
Then, the team capped off the season with a crucial 2-0 win against TNC. That propelled them from the sixth spot to the third spot with 18 points off an improved 5-7 standing.
“Fit na fit po si Renejay sa exp lane.
“‘Di naman sa ano, kasi ‘yung ibang fans minamasama ‘yung pagpalit namin kay Jeymz. Pero magkaiba kasi sila ng playstyle saka mas bagay si Renejay sa exp lane talaga,” he added.
Nexplay EVOS looks to secure its spot in the playoffs against RSG PH as they open the final week on Friday at 6:00 PM.
