Aurora survives AP.Bren scare, stays unbeaten in MPL PH

By: Jerod Orcullo

Aurora extended its winning streak to three, pulling off a reverse sweep against AP.Bren, 2-1, to close out the first day of Week 2 of MPL Philippines Season 15, Friday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.

Dominic “Domengkite” Delmundo led the charge in the series-clinching Game 3, putting on a stellar performance with Granger. He delivered a dominant 13/1/4 KDA, capped off by a Maniac in Aurora’s final push.

With the victory, Aurora remains undefeated at 3-0, securing its spot atop the standings ahead of Team Liquid Philippines (2-0) and Team Falcons (2-1).

In the second game, Renejay “Renejay” Barcase’s Hylos played a crucial role in keeping AP.Bren at bay. He absorbed everything “The Hive” threw at him, finishing with 17 assists, 1 kill, and 0 deaths, proving to be an immovable force.

“Nakakasabay din talaga sila eh. Tingin ko kulang lang talaga, nag-aadjust pa sila sa MPL, pero nandun talaga yung potential nung team. Maganda rin yung pinakita nila, gumagawa talaga sila ng way kahit na lamang kami. Nakakahanap pa din sila ng paraan lalo na nung Game 1,” said head coach Aniel “Master the Basics” Jiandani.

AP.Bren, the MDL Season 4 champions, showcased their resilience in the series opener, staging a comeback from an early deficit.

James “JamesPangks” Mendoza led the charge with a standout performance on Suyou, navigating through Aurora’s suffocating pressure to seal the win in 20 minutes and two seconds.

Aurora looks to continue its winning streak as it faces Smart Omega next Saturday in Week 3.

Meanwhile, AP.Bren remains in search of its first win and will take on Team Liquid Philippines in the final match of Week 2 Day 2 at 7:30 PM.
