Aurora sweeps Twisted Minds for 8-0 MPL PH start

Aurora remained unbeaten to open the second round, sweeping Twisted Minds, 2-0, for its eighth consecutive victory in the MPL Philippines Season 15, Friday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati City.

Jungler Jhonard “Demonkite” Caranto and gold laner Dominic “Domengkite” Del Mundo set the pace for the Northern Lights, as last season’s grand finalist tightened its hold on the top spot with a flawless 8-0 record.

Demonkite (Lukas) and Domengkite (Granger) powered Aurora past a tough early challenge from Twisted Minds in Game 1, leading the charge by securing seven of the team’s first eight kills by the 9th minute.

As the match entered the 15th minute, the Northern Lights initially targeted the second Lord but shifted their focus to the Twisted Minds contingent, led by James “Jeymz” Gloria (Hilda), who was attempting to provide vision of the objective.

Demonkite and Edward ‘Edward’ Dapadap (Phoveus) flanked for Aurora, who then secured a four-man wipe which allowed them to draw first blood in the series.

Domengkite finished with clean 6-0-4 KDA in the 13-18 Game 1 victory, while Demonkite tallied four kills and five assists without a single death in 15 minutes and 10 seconds of action.

Following a brilliant Game 1 performance, Domengkite delivered an even stronger showing in the clincher — once again on Granger — as he steered Aurora to a dominant 17-7 Game 2 victory in just 13 minutes of play.

The former Minana Esports standout delivered 12 of the team’s 17 kills to finish with a cool 12-1-4 KDA.

Renejay “Renejay” Barcarse’s Franco played a crucial role in the win as well, setting up the team with easy pickoffs that allowed them to snowball their way to the victory. He registered a kill and nine assists against one death.

Aurora looks to stretch its immaculate run against defending champion ONIC PH on Saturday, 7:30 PM at the same venue.

Meanwhile, Twisted Minds has dropped its second consecutive game since securing its first win late in the first round to drop to 1-7 in the standings.

Twisted Minds aim to return to the win column against Team Liquid PH on Sunday at 7:30 PM.
