Alleiah Malaluan thrilled to join La Salle legends in PLDT

Alleiah Malaluan just hit the jackpot — getting drafted by her dream team, which includes her La Salle “ates” and her volleyball idol.

The De La Salle University standout was selected ninth overall by PLDT in the 2025 Premier Volleyball League Rookie Draft held Sunday at the Novotel Hotel in Cubao.

Shortly after hearing her name called, Malaluan breathed a sigh of relief and shared that she had been praying to be picked by the High Speed Hitters.

“Actually to be honest I’m really grateful and sobrang minamanifest ko talaga mag-PLDT kasi aminin ko, ‘yun yung dream team ko. I’m just really happy and I’m out of words right now,” said Malaluan.

The timing is perfect for Malaluan, as PLDT is looking to fill gaps left by the recent departures of wing spikers Erika Santos and Fiola Ceballos to other teams.

She will join the team’s rotation of outside hitters alongside Savi Davison, Jovie Prado, Kiesha Bedonia, and Shiela Kiseo.

Malaluan revealed that during her time at La Salle, she had already developed admiration for Davison through tune-up games against PLDT — and now, she feels thrilled to finally be her teammate.

“Actually during nasa La Salle pa ako, nagtu-tune-up kami sa kanila. Nakikita ko na siya (Davison) and super nilu-look forward ko rin makipaglaro with her. Isa din siya sa tinitignan ko as idols sa PVL,” shared Malaluan, who was also named Star of the Night during the Draft.

Having played under the Green and White banner for several years, Malaluan is also looking forward to reuniting with La Salle legends Kianna Dy, Kim Fajardo, Majoy Baron, and Mika Reyes — all of whom are part of the PLDT squad.

“Actually it’s a huge help kasi yung sisterhood namin nandoon. Kasama ko yung La Salle ‘ates,’ mas magiging comfortable ako and I know that I’ll be okay with the team.”
