Tia Andaya excited to show worth to Choco Mucho fans

Tia Andaya entered the 2025 Premier Volleyball League Rookie Draft as one of the more intriguing prospects — largely unfamiliar to the local volleyball scene, yet already a member of the Alas Pilipinas Women’s pool.

Despite being a mystery to many fans, the Filipino-American setter was selected seventh overall by Choco Mucho on Sunday at the Novotel Hotel. Andaya said she simply felt grateful to hear her name called.

A product of Central Washington University, the 24-year-old is excited to suit up for the Flying Titans, one of the PVL’s most popular squads known for their passionate fanbase.

“I’m definitely going to have to adjust, but it’s going to be a learning curve,” said Andaya. “I’m excited. It’s going to be super fun to play for a crowd.”

Her path to the PVL has been anything but conventional.

After college, Andaya played professionally in Europe, suiting up for KS Tirana in Albania and CSM Lugoj in Romania.

She has since been a consistent presence in Alas Pilipinas’ training camps, helping the national team prepare for the ongoing AVC Challenge Cup, where the squad currently boasts a 2-0 record.

Despite the whirlwind of experiences and new opportunities, Andaya remains grounded.

“One step at a time. I think just taking things as they come. Staying grounded and just focusing on volleyball is going to be how I get through it,” she said.

Joining Choco Mucho means Andaya will be part of a deep and competitive setter rotation, alongside fellow national team pool member Mars Alba, fan favorite Deanna Wong, and seasoned playmaker Jem Ferrer.
