Philippine National Volleyball Federation president Tats Suzara is urging Brooke Van Sickle to complete the necessary paperwork for her federation switch as soon as possible, since she has yet to submit the required documents to become eligible to play for Alas Pilipinas.
Suzara confirmed that he has already signed the federation switch papers for Filipino-American setter Tia Andaya and MJ Phillips, and their documents have been forwarded to the FIVB executive committee for approval.
However, Van Sickle, who is also registered under USA Volleyball, has not yet submitted her documents to proceed with the transfer.
“We’re processing now Tia Andaya and MJ Phillips’ change of federation, so I signed the papers already. It will be forwarded to FIVB with some additional documents — barangay certificate, mga ganyan. Hopefully, it will be approved by FIVB and then they can play already,” Suzara said after the PNVF-Rebisco partnership announcement for the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship held at the Novotel on Monday.
“Brooke’s, I have not signed the document. I don’t know if she has accomplished the form but I signed MJ Phillips and Tia Andaya’s at the moment. I hope Brooke can submit this. It’s a matter of completing the form because USA Volleyball signs the form so easily,” he added.
Suzara stressed the urgency for Van Sickle to submit her paperwork so she can be cleared in time to join the national team for upcoming international competitions.
“Yes basta ma-submit lang. Documentation lang naman eh. She’s really willing to play for the national team,” he said.
He also explained, “The executive committee, which I am a part of it, can approve anytime any request for change of federations. In fact, two days ago, I approved mga 5 change of federation, so anytime yan basta laging group of five and then we approve.”
Both Phillips and Andaya have already trained with Alas Pilipinas in recent weeks, while Van Sickle remains in Hawaii following a demanding campaign with Petro Gazz that spanned the five-month PVL All-Filipino Conference and the AVC Women’s Champions League.
Alas Pilipinas is currently in Hanoi, Vietnam, competing at the AVC Women’s Nations Cup.
