Tia Andaya officially confirmed her departure from Choco Mucho on Wednesday morning, bidding farewell to the Flying Titans after spending one season with the club.
“Maraming salamat, Choco, at maraming salamat, Philippines,” said the Filipino-American setter.
Selected seventh overall by Choco Mucho in the 2025 PVL Draft, Andaya struggled to secure consistent playing time during her two-conference stint with the Flying Titans, serving as a backup to veteran setters Deanna Wong and Alina Bicar.
The 25-year-old playmaker, who played collegiately for Gonzaga University and Central Washington University, moved to the Philippines in pursuit of an opportunity with Alas Pilipinas. She eventually became part of the national team pool under former head coach Jorge Souza de Brito.
However, opportunities with the national team were also limited. Andaya remained ineligible to represent Alas Pilipinas in official international competitions due to her continued affiliation with USA Volleyball.
In her farewell message, Andaya expressed gratitude to the supporters who stood by her throughout her journey in the Philippines, saying that her experience with both Choco Mucho and Alas Pilipinas would always hold a special place in her heart.
“It truly was an unforgettable journey. The road wasn’t always smooth, but I wouldn’t change it for the world,” Andaya said.
“Thank you all for your support and love these past few years. Whether it was with Choco or Alas, it was an honor to play both with and for all of you.”
Choco Mucho has already bolstered its setter rotation ahead of the upcoming season, selecting Tin Ubaldo with the third overall pick in the recent PVL Draft and signing veteran playmaker Ivy Perez in free agency before the start of the PVL On Tour in July.
