Sultan Baruwa cleared, Dieonte Miles ruled ineligible for UAAP Season 89

Ateneo de Manila University will not go all-Filipino after all, with Sultan Baruwa cleared to play in the UAAP Season 89 Collegiate Men’s Basketball Tournament after the Blue Eagles submitted his apostilled transcript of records on Saturday.

Baruwa was initially deemed ineligible after Ateneo had yet to produce the required official document, but the submission of his apostilled transcript of records completed his eligibility requirements and cleared him to suit up for the Blue Eagles.

The same could not be done for the University of the Philippines and former Division I big man Dieonte Miles, who will remain ineligible for Season 89 after he failed to secure some of his immigration requirements,  one of the requirements for foreign student-athletes.2026-Pinoyliga-Big-Dance-Ateneo-vs-Benilde-Sultan-Baruwa Sultan Baruwa cleared, Dieonte Miles ruled ineligible for UAAP Season 89 ADMU Basketball News UAAP UP - philippine sports news

As a result, Ateneo retains Baruwa as its foreign student-athlete, while UP replaced Miles with returning Dikachi Ududo as its second foreign student-athlete. Francis Nnoruka remains the Fighting Maroons’ main FSA.

The Blue Eagles’ lineup features Kieffer Alas, Michael Asoro, Jared Bahay, Aldin Cainglet, Matt De Luna, Waki Espinar, Ian Espinosa, EJ Kapihe, Jay-M Leal, Sam Reyes, Travis Roberts, Grayson Rogers, Shawn Tuano, Chris Urbina, and Baruwa.

Completing UP’s roster are Sean Alter, LA Andres, Jacob Bayla, Chicco Briones, Elliot Dimaculangan, Seann Franco, Rainer Maga, Russell Ogana, Migs Palanca, James Payosing, Arvie Poyos, Veejay Pre, Noy Remogat, Gani Stevens, and Miguel Yniguez.AUBL-UP-Media-Day-Dieonte-Miles-0244 Sultan Baruwa cleared, Dieonte Miles ruled ineligible for UAAP Season 89 ADMU Basketball News UAAP UP - philippine sports news

Unlike Baruwa, Miles no longer has a chance to suit up in the UAAP as he has already aged out.

The former Morehead State and Xavier University player was unable to complete his eligibility requirements after failing to secure the necessary Alien Certificate of Registration.
