RODRIGUEZ, RIZAL – Tia Andaya will have to wait a little longer for her Premier Volleyball League debut, as she remains sidelined due to the pending release of her International Transfer Certificate (ITC) ahead of the Flying Titans’ opening match against Capital1 in the 2025 Reinforced Conference on Tuesday.
“It hasn’t been signed yet,” Andaya told Tiebreaker Times in a quick chat before Choco Mucho’s season debut at the Ynares Center Montalban here.
The Philippine National Volleyball Federation has yet to issue the ITCs for both foreign reinforcements and Filipino-American players, delaying their participation in the league’s season-opening conference.
ZUS Coffee’s Anna DeBeer and Akari’s Annie Mitchem were forced to sit out the day’s opener. Meanwhile, Choco Mucho’s Anyse Smith and Capital1’s Oleksandra Bytsenko were likewise expected to miss the main event at the Ynares Center in Montalban.
For her part, Andaya is still in the process of transferring federations.
The seventh overall pick of the 2025 PVL Draft remains under the jurisdiction of USA Volleyball and must secure her ITC before she can officially suit up for the Flying Titans.
Playing without it, she noted, could result in sanctions from the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball and could also jeopardize her federation transfer.
“Just because you can get sanctioned by the FIVB, so I don’t want to jeopardize it with the FIVB,” said the 24-year-old playmaker.
The same process is ongoing for Petro Gazz’s MJ Phillips and Brooke Van Sickle, who are both transferring federations to represent Alas Pilipinas, as well as PLDT’s Savannah Davison.
Andaya, one of the most anticipated newcomers this conference, hopes the matter can be resolved soon so she can finally make her PVL debut.
“Hopefully, next game.”
