ZUS Coffee lands American spiker DeBeer in bid to erase Reinforced Conference struggles

ZUS Coffee has bolstered its roster with the addition of young outside hitter Anna DeBeer, aiming to strike a better balance of youth and experience for the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference, the team announced Friday.

The 5-foot-11 American winger last played for Indy Ignite in the Major Volleyball League, her first professional stint following an impressive collegiate career with the University of Louisville.

“US NCAA Division I athlete Anna DeBeer signs with the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles for the upcoming 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference,” the team said in a Facebook post.

“The outside hitter, who played for the University of Louisville and Indy Ignite, will be teaming up with the likes of Jovelyn Gonzaga, AC Miner, Thea Gagate, and Chinnie Arroyo as they aim for the team’s best finish in franchise history,” the statement continued.

DeBeer tallied 172 points with Indy Ignite, built on 148 attacks, 17 blocks, and seven aces, while also contributing 110 digs on the defensive end.

The move comes after a difficult 2024 Reinforced Conference campaign, where ZUS Coffee finished in last place despite the efforts of Japanese import Asaka Tamaru.

With DeBeer on board, the Thunderbelles hope to bounce back and complement their core of Gagate, Arroyo, Miner, Gonzaga, and setter Clo Mondoñedo in pursuit of a breakthrough run.
