Already a hit in AVC, Anyse Smith looks to make bigger mark with Choco Mucho

Anyse Smith had already caught the attention of Filipino fans during her stint with Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC in the AVC Champions League held in the Philippines earlier this year.

Now, the high-flying opposite feels determined to make an even bigger impact — this time wearing the colors of crowd favorite Choco Mucho in the 2025 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference.

“I feel like I did a big one the first time,” said Smith, who helped the Thai powerhouse capture the bronze medal in the AVC Champions League and quickly became one of the fan favorites among the Filipino crowd at Philsports Arena a few months back.

“But I want to leave with an even bigger impact this time,” she added.

The 26-year-old winger knows that joining the Flying Titans means performing in front of one of the league’s most passionate fan bases — something she sees as added motivation to deliver.

“I love the supporters here. I feel like the fans definitely give us a run for our money. They’re there to support us. They’re there when we’re down, and they’re there when we need them. So I just want to say we appreciate all of you,” Smith said.

And while the spotlight and expectations are high, Smith shared that her transition into the Flying Titans system has been made easier by the warmth and support of her new teammates, who welcomed her right from day one.

Now fully settled in, Smith said her focus is on the kind of player she wants to become for Choco Mucho — not just a scorer, but someone who can embrace leadership while also being a dependable role player for the team.

“I’m just here to do my job, show my support, be a good team player, and be a leader. I want to win. You will see a very compassionate, very committed Marlee this time around,” Smith said.

“The transition has been fairly easy because my teammates are very welcoming. I felt very supported since I got here. I actually really, really love my team.”
