Terrence Jones continues to show that he’s more than just a scoring threat, Wednesday evening.
The NBA veteran notched a triple-double performance with 33 points, 21 rebounds, and 13 assists as well as four steals and two blocks to steer his TNT KaTropa past Denzel Bowles and Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 102-81.
That marked Jones’ second triple-double this 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup. He produced 17 points, 16 rebounds, and 14 assists in the KaTropa’s 104-96 victory over defending champions Barangay Ginebra San Miguel last June 12.
The Kentucky alum, however, gave utmost credit to his fellow Texters for his monster performance.
“I think scoring is something I’m doing but I’m definitely happy my teammates know where to be when I get the ball. I’m finding them when I get doubled and they’re knocking down the shots,” said the 27-year-old forward.
“That’s a credit to their hard work, staying in the gym, and making sure to make those shots when they’re wide open.”
The win had given TNT its eighth win in nine outings, further solidifying their hold of the top spot of the team standings. Moreover, the win had moved them nearer to clinching a coveted twice-to-beat advantage for the playoffs.
They have a chance to clinch such in their final two games of the eliminations, though it won’t be a walk in the park for the KaTropa as they will face the Blackwater Elite this Sunday, July 7, and the Magnolia Hotshots on July 17.
But Jones is not looking too far ahead, saying: “We’re just taking it one game at a time.
“Not really trying to look too far down the schedule and just worrying about the task at hand and the team that we play next.”
