One of the biggest 3×3 basketball tournaments of the year is set to take place with the launch of the Le P:LAB 3X3 Philippine Champions Cup.
Made possible through the collaboration between SBTown and the National Basketball League–Pilipinas, the tournament will feature a total prize pool of ₱2-million.
The competition aims to bring high-level 3×3 basketball action across the country through a series of eight legs, each targeting up to 100 participating teams. The top 16 teams from each leg will advance to the Sweet 16 round, where a knockout format will determine which teams progress further.
From there, the champions of each leg will move into the Elite 8 and Final 4 stages in Manila, culminating in the crowning of the national champion in this inaugural edition.
Adding to the excitement, the winning team from the national championship will compete in special exhibition matches against a Korean artists and actors basketball team. Additionally, an exhibition match will be played featuring Philippine artists and legendary players.
The tournament will also offer players the opportunity to earn FIBA ranking points, further elevating its competitive significance on the international stage.
“We hope this tournament will serve as a platform where young talents in the Philippines can pursue their dreams and where local communities can come together and connect through sports.” said Harim Nam, CEO of Le P:LAB, a healthcare and lifestyle product brand based on technology developed by the National Research Institute in Korea.
SBTown, an events and entertainment company debuting P-Pop idols, is expanding into the sports scene through this initiative.
“We have another dream through this basketball tournament, that we could really find new and good talents for them to be exposed to an international tournament,” said SBTown president and CEO Geong Seong Han.
Meanwhile, NBL-Pilipinas, the country’s premier homegrown basketball league now in its eighth year, will serve as the league partner and tournament organizer.
“With regards to development, I believe that in this staging of this 3×3 event, we will be discovering more hidden talents, especially that we are going Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. We’ll definitely be producing and discovering more talents in the countryside,” said NBL-Pilipinas president Rhose Montreal.
The first leg of the tournament is scheduled to take place in June, while the national championship is set for August.
