The WNBL 3×3 will hold a pool draw on Saturday for its inaugural tournament, where nine teams will see action.
The draw will be staged during halftime of the NBL semifinal match between Pampanga Delta and Taguig Generals on Saturday at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.
“There are a lot of talents when it comes to women’s basketball in the Philippines. We don’t want to limit it to the 5-on-5 professional platform. Now, we are going to launch a 3×3 professional league,” said WNBL/NBL executive vice president Rhose Montreal.
The nine teams are as follows: Uratex Dream, Uratex Tibay, Swish, Dreamers, Amazing, Quezon Women’s Basketball Team, Rizal Huskies, JJD, and Fourbees Hoopers.
Haydee Ong is the commissioner of the WNBL 3×3 league which will be regulated by the Games and Amusements Board. FIBA ranking points are also at stake.
Uratex Dream will have Kaye Pingol, Tina Deacon, Alyssa Villamor, and Angel Anies in the line-up, while Uratex Tibay will be fielding Sam Harada, Eunique Chan, Ford Grajales, and Kat Quimpo.
Swish’s roster has Sunny Lucañas, Eyjay Go, Cheska Maristela, and Carole Monteyola, and Dreamers have Rica Francisco, Leodine Maria Madrid, Ira Canales and Anddre Nikkita Gonzales.
Amazing is composed of Bennette Revillosa, Dixie Yu, Aiumi Ono. and Ana Thea Cenarosa; QWBT has Kathleen Baldovino, Angelica Azarias, Claudine Carbonilla, and Shienna Carbonell; and Rizal Huskies have Susan Ali Mohamed El Hadad, Michelle Bio, Loraine Gonzalo, and Kat Magsombol.
JJD has Christine Iriss Isip, Judy-Ann Orillana, Francesca Isabel F. Young and Hannah Sy, and Fourbees Hoopers have Jastine Mandap, Ma. Ferlynn Decapia, Tiffany Ngo and Johnria Alette Mendoza.
