Manila Gilas bowed out of the 2026 FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series – Ulaanbaatar Stop after falling to Germany, 20-5, in the quarterfinals on Friday at Sukhbaatar Main Square.
Germany, the third-ranked team in the tournament, delivered a dominant performance, racing to an 11-3 advantage and never looking back en route to the lopsided victory.
Kaye Pingol paced Manila Gilas with three points, while her sister Ann Pingol and Tin Cayabyab chipped in one point apiece.
Victoria Poros and Ama Gegbeon led Germany with eight and six points, respectively.
Despite the quarterfinal exit, it was still a commendable campaign for the quartet of the Pingol sisters, Cayabyab, and Sam Harada.
Manila Gilas had to navigate the qualifying draw to reach the main tournament, defeating Lion City, 15-5, and Sukhbaatar, 21-13, to earn a spot in Pool D.
The Filipinas opened the pool stage with an impressive 19-11 upset of Mongolia before absorbing a 21-13 loss to China, which was still enough to send them through to the knockout round.
With the result, Manila Gilas moved up to 30th in the Women’s Series team standings with 45 points, adding to the 10 points they collected during the Manila Stop of the series.
